Understanding the Two Issuing Authorities
Visas for the United Arab Emirates are issued through two official immigration channels depending on which emirate sponsored the application:
- GDRFA (General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs): Handles entry permits issued for Dubai.
- ICP (Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security): Handles entry permits issued for Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my visa is issued by GDRFA or ICP?
Dubai applications begin with '201' or are referenced through GDRFA. Applications for other emirates use the ICP 10-digit application code. Your confirmation email will specify the authority.
Can I check the validity of an already approved visa?
Yes. On both GDRFA and ICP portals, you can query 'File Validity' using your passport details and UID number to view your exact entry deadline and remaining stay duration.
